Red Desert was founded in 2008 by Pedro Neves. Its films have won several prizes and have been presented in more than 50 festivals around the world, including Clermont-Ferrand, Guadalajara, Doclisboa, Cartagena IFF, CPH:DOX, Documenta Madrid, Curtas Vila do Conde, Curtas de São Paulo, Curtas Belo Horizonte, L’ Alternativa, Festival de Lille, Porto Post Doc, Indie Lisboa, among others.

The festival in Oviedo, Spain, invited the Portuguese director Pedro Neves to create a filmed postcard from his home during the State of Emergency in Portugal.
