After presenting the beautiful As Maçãs Azuis (The Blue Apples), Ricardo Leite returns this year with a new feature film, Lucefece. Entirely shot on film over the past 20 years, the film was developed by hand by the director himself. This is an essay-film where the personal and collective, the political and intimate, are intertwined. Ricardo Leite draws on his childhood memories and intertwines them with conversations with his father, a former soldier in the colonial war, who was later imprisoned. It is an autobiographical dive into the past and a portrait of a country haunted by the ghosts of war.

At Porto/Post/Doc - in the Cinema Falado category - the Portuguese Society of Authors awarded the film Lucefece: Where there is no vision, the people will perish by Porto-native Ricardo Leite. Lucefece presents itself as an autobiographical documentary exploring the dark past of the Colonial War. For the jury, it stands out for its "originality" and the emotion conveyed through "handmade images".
